GIFEC has officially inaugurated a 10-member governing body, marking a significant milestone in the organization's commitment to transparent and effective leadership. The newly appointed Board of Trustees brings together seasoned professionals with extensive experience in telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and governance.

Board Composition and Expertise

The board comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds, including telecommunications, education, finance, and public administration. This diversity ensures that decisions made by the board reflect multiple perspectives and expertise, contributing to GIFEC's strategic direction in bridging the digital divide across Ghana.

Strategic Focus Areas

The new board has outlined its focus on three key strategic areas:

  2. Digital Literacy: Implementing training programs and digital skills development across Ghana
  3. Sustainable Innovation: Promoting innovative solutions for digital inclusion and electronic communications

The swearing-in was officiated by His Lordship Justice Ayitey Armah Tetteh, Justice of the High Court. The newly constituted Board is chaired by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), and comprises distinguished professionals drawn from Parliament, public sector institutions, private industry, and civil society. In his opening remarks, Justice Armah Tetteh congratulated the Board Members on behalf of the President of the Republic. He reaffirmed the President’s confidence in their capabilities and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, dedication, and professionalism. He emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability in the administration of public funds, especially in a rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

Looking Forward

The newly constituted board is set to meet quarterly to review progress on key initiatives and ensure GIFEC remains aligned with its mandate of promoting universal access to electronic communications across Ghana. The board welcomes collaboration with stakeholders and partners in achieving these objectives.
