Biography

Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah (Mrs.) is a senior technology executive, independent board director, and angel investor with over 20 years of experience as a seasoned strategist and business operator across financial services, technology, and emerging markets. She currently serves as Deputy CEO of GIFEC, Ghana’s national digital infrastructure and universal access fund, where she operates in a COO capacity and helps lead national priorities including the One Million Coders Programme

Before public service, Nana spent 15 continuous years at Google, WhatsApp and Meta, most recently as a Global Director at Meta, leading partnerships and programs across its product and content portfolio, including Gen AI, with a focus on responsible innovation, trust, and expanding opportunity across its partner ecosystem. Over seven years at Google across three roles and several continents, she led government, education, and mobile partnerships in Africa, business development in the UK, and global strategy and operations in the US.

Over the last decade, Nana has been at the forefront of operationalising some of the most challenging existential issues in tech, spanning brand safety, data privacy, platform integrity, regulatory compliance, and responsible innovation, earning a reputation as a pioneer in solving complex nascent issues and building strong systems, scalable processes, and high-performing teams. This includes building WhatsApp’s first Global Strategic Programs organisation, serving as the company execution lead for Facebook’s App Developer Investigations in response to Cambridge Analytica, and leading WhatsApp’s response to the $5B FTC Consent Order. Nana is passionate about building technology with ethics, accountability, and society in mind.

Earlier in her career, Nana worked at Citigroup Private Bank in structured lending, at Citigroup Corporate Bank as an Assistant VP in credit risk, and as a Private Equity Investor at Aureos Capital, a pan-emerging markets firm managing over $1.2 billion in funds. She serves as an Independent Board Director of Nuclear Power Ghana and MTN Benin Mobile Money and chairs Ghana’s UNESCO Information for All Program National Committee.

In 2020, Nana became the first Black female Director at WhatsApp, and in 2024 she was named a top women leader in San Francisco. In 2025, she was appointed by the President of Ghana to help drive the country’s digital transformation and technology ambitions. Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University and an MBA with honours from the University of Oxford.
