GIFFEC TO DEPLOY ICT-DEVICES TO AID NAVIGATION ON VOLTA LAKE

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), is exploring the deployment of ICT-assisted devices to improve transportation on the Volta Lake.

Researchers at GIFEC are already conducting studies on how to use ICT to improve navigation on the Lake. Perennial boat accidents have over the years left many people dead and property destroyed.

GIFEC’s Principal Technical Manager, Michael Agyei Takyi, says the Fund wants to assist the Volta River Authority (VRA), to end the boat tragedies.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Hon. Abdul-Rahaman Abdul Hanan Gundaadow has pledged the assembly’s support towards projects rolled out by the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) in the Metropolis.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON 112 HELD AT TAKORADI.

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has organized a stakeholder engagement on 112 Emergency Call Center at Takoradi in the Western Region.

The stakeholder engagement was organized to sensitize the security agencies and other bodies in the region about the 112 Emergency Response System (ERS) which is intended to consolidate the emergency services in the country.

This stakeholder engagement organized by GIFEC was held in collaboration with the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (S.T.M.A).

GIFEC TRAINS 53 SELECTED CIC MANAGERS.

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), has organized a three-day training workshop for 53 selected Community Information Centers (CICs) managers across the country.

Speaking at the workshop held at Nkwantakese in the Afigya-Kwabre District, Ashanti Region, Mr. Alhassan Toure Abdulai, CIC manager for WA in the Upper West Region and the course prefect for the group said the aim of the workshop was to equip the managers with skill to enlighten artisans across the country to enable them to add value to their craftsmanship.

GIFEC LAUNCH SATELLITE HUB TO BRIDGE RURAL-URBAN DIVIDE

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has launched a satellite hub which targets universal access to telecommunication services for remote communities in the country.

Known as the VSAT Satellite Hub, the system, which has the capacity to connect 2,000 communities nationwide, will, among other functions provide a satellite communication service that delivers a terrestrial-grade experience with voice, video and data.
